Crew

They work the dive deck with you — tanks, gear, the ladder — instead of watching from the rail.

Itinerary

Wolf and Darwin as the point of the week, not an optional add-on at the end.

Deck

A station per diver, so nobody kits up in a queue with a tank half strapped on.

The boat

Built for one job

When a diver asks for a boat that handles the hard end of Galapagos diving without thinning out the support around it, the Tiburon Explorer is one of the few names we hand over. Built for diving in 2020, 16 guests, and the same note in review after review: the crew help with tanks and gear, and the briefings take safety seriously. Across a week of six a.m. starts and real current, that is the whole difference.

The deck follows the same logic — a station per diver, a camera table with charging points, separate rinse tanks, hot showers waiting at the ladder, and two pangas that put you at the site instead of near it. Nine ocean-view cabins handle the rest. The comfort stays in its lane: it supports the diving instead of competing with it.

Where you dive

The week, by depth

12–30 mDarwin

Darwin

The reason most divers come. Hammerheads school along the wall, and whale sharks pass through in season, roughly June to November. You hook in, stay low, and let the traffic come to you.

Strong currentAdvancedHammerheads · whale sharks

15–35 mWolf

Wolf

Cleaning stations, walls and constant movement: hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, silkies, and schools of jacks and creolefish dense enough to dim the light.

Strong currentAdvancedSharks · big schools

8–25 mWest

Isabela & Fernandina

Colder and stranger than the north. Marine iguanas grazing on the bottom, mola mola in the cold upwellings, rays, turtles, and sea lions that decide the dive is about them.

Cold waterIntermediate+Iguanas · mola mola

Nothing in the water is guaranteed. These animals show up often enough to plan a week around, not often enough to promise.

Arrival

Fly into Baltra, board in the afternoon, and settle in. No diving on day one.

Check dives and the run north

Two dives at Baltra North to sort weights and gear, then a land visit at North Seymour before the long overnight transit to Wolf.

Wolf Island

A full day on the walls and cleaning stations: hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, silkies and dense schooling fish.

Darwin Island

The day the trip is built around. Two dives at Darwin, then back to Wolf overnight.

Wolf again, then west

A second full day at Wolf before the crossing to Cabo Douglas and the cold water on the western side.

Cousin’s Rock and Santa Cruz

Last dives of the week, then ashore: the Santa Cruz highlands, and an evening in Puerto Ayora with dinner on your own. Back on board at 8:30 pm.

Departure

Transfer to Baltra airport and the flight back to the mainland.

No diving

Departures run Saturday to Saturday. Sites and dive counts shift with conditions — the crew decides on the day, not the brochure.

On board

The dive deck

  • Wide gear-up area with a station per diver
  • Camera table with charging points
  • Separate rinse tanks for cameras and equipment

Honest fit

Is this your boat?

Book it if

  • You have 60–100 logged dives, ideally some in current
  • Wolf and Darwin are the reason for the trip
  • You want a crew that runs a tight, organised operation
  • You dive with a camera and want a proper setup for it

Choose another cruise if

  • You are new to diving, or diving after a long break
  • Part of your group does not dive
  • You want snorkelling and land visits at the centre of the week
  • You prefer a slower pace than four dives a day

Not the right fit? We also arrange Galapagos diving cruises for intermediate divers and naturalist cruises built around land visits and snorkelling.

Send the week you have in mind and we come back with the cabins still open on the Tiburon Explorer and what they cost.
