The Albatross Sanctuary:
Española Island Expedition
Journey to one of the oldest and most biodiverse islands in the archipelago. Witness the spectacular flight of the Waved Albatross and discover the unique “Christmas” marine iguanas found nowhere else on Earth.
The Experience
Española Island is a crown jewel of the Galápagos. As one of the oldest islands in the chain, it has evolved into a unique sanctuary for endemic species. This is the only place in the world where the Waved Albatross nests, performing their intricate courtship dances on the high volcanic cliffs. Alongside these giants, you will encounter the vibrant “Christmas Iguanas”—famed for their striking red and green colors—and blue-footed boobies nesting just steps from the trail. From the dramatic blowholes at Punta Suarez to the turquoise snorkeling waters of Gardner Islet, Española offers an unmatched wildlife immersion.
Your Adventure Itinerary
07:20 AM — Boarding at San Cristóbal
Meet our crew at the “Acuario” pier in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. We set sail on a 2-hour open-ocean navigation towards the remote southern tip of the archipelago.
The Wildlife Trail (80% Hike)
Disembark at Punta Suarez or Punta Cevallos for a guided walk. This is where the magic happens: walk among hundreds of marine iguanas, watch the albatrosses take flight from the cliffs, and spot Nazca boobies and Galapagos hawks.
Marine Exploration (20% Snorkeling)
After the hike, we head to Gardner Islet or Manzanillo Beach. Dive into the water to swim with playful sea lions, sea turtles, and schools of tropical fish in one of the most scenic bays in Galápagos.
04:00 PM — Return to Port
After a full day of discovery, we navigate back to San Cristóbal Island, arriving at the main pier just in time for the evening sunset.
