The yacht

Size, and what it buys

Infinity is the largest vessel in this catalogue by a wide margin: forty-nine metres, ten of beam, 420 tons, built in 2018. Twenty guests in ten cabins, all with private balconies, hot water and air conditioning, running from twenty-one square metres on the main deck to thirty-five in the upper deck suites. The dining room alone is a hundred and thirteen square metres.

What the extra size actually buys is the guide ratio. Twenty guests and two bilingual National Park guides means every landing splits into two groups of ten, which on a narrow trail past nesting boobies is the difference between watching wildlife and watching the back of someone’s head. Thirteen crew in total, including a cruise director. Suite 8 and cabin 10 interconnect, which is the arrangement families ask for and rarely find.

Landing sites are set by the National Park and can shift with conditions or park scheduling. The guide adjusts the day; the islands do not take requests.

The other routes

Four ways to sail her

  • B — 8 days, Tuesday to Tuesday. The western route above: San Cristobal, Santa Fe, the Plazas, Santa Cruz, Isabela, Fernandina, Santiago and North Seymour. San Cristobal to Baltra.
  • A — 8 days, Tuesday to Tuesday. The northern and southern islands: Black Turtle Cove, both Genovesa sites, Sullivan Bay, Rabida, the Santa Cruz highlands, Floreana and Espanola. Baltra to San Cristobal.
  • 5 days, Friday to Tuesday. El Chato, Dragon Hill, Bachas Beach, Floreana and Espanola with Suarez Point and Gardner Bay.
  • 4 days, Tuesday to Friday. Black Turtle Cove, both Genovesa sites, Sullivan Bay and Rabida — the shortest route in the fleet that reaches Genovesa.

A and B share almost nothing, so the two back to back cover the archipelago. If you only get one: B carries Fernandina and the volcanic west; A carries Genovesa with its red-footed boobies and Espanola, where the waved albatross nests between April and December. Each route starts on one island and ends on another — check yours before booking flights.

The fare

What the price covers

Included

  • All meals throughout the cruise
  • Every excursion on the itinerary
  • Two bilingual National Park guides
  • All transfers within the islands
  • Use of the expedition gear
  • Carbon footprint compensation
  • Two hotel nights in Quito or Guayaquil on eight-day cruises, one on the shorter ones
  • Transfers and airport assistance on the mainland

Not included

  • National Park entrance fee — USD 200
  • Transit control card — USD 20
  • Mainland to Galapagos airfare
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Travel and medical insurance
  • Tips and personal expenses

The mainland hotel nights are worth counting: almost nobody flies to the islands the same day they land in Ecuador, so those are nights you would pay for anyway. The package has conditions tied to the cruise dates — ask us for the exact terms when you write.

Cabins

Where you sleep

Ten cabins, all with a private balcony, hot water and air conditioning. Six doubles on the main deck between twenty-one and twenty-five square metres, then two doubles and two suites on the upper, the largest at thirty-five. Suite 8 and cabin 10 interconnect, which is the arrangement to ask for if you are travelling with children.

Meals on board

All meals are covered, served in a dining room of a hundred and thirteen square metres or outside at the al fresco table when the evening allows it. Alcohol is charged separately. Tell us about dietary needs before you sail rather than on the first evening.

Honest fit

Is this your boat?

Book it if

  • Ten people per guide on the trail matters more to you than a smaller boat
  • You are travelling with children and want interconnecting cabins
  • A private balcony and a large cabin are what you are paying for
  • You need the mainland hotel nights anyway

Choose another cruise if

  • You came to dive — this is a naturalist cruise, not a dive boat
  • Twenty guests feels like too many — most boats here carry sixteen
  • You are travelling alone — there is no single cabin here
  • You need a published price before you enquire

Want a smaller group? The Samba carries fourteen. Same operator, smaller yacht? The Natural Paradise. Came for the sharks instead? See our Galapagos diving cruises.
