The Lava Crevice Sanctuary:
Las Tintoreras Expedition
Venture into a volcanic labyrinth where whitetip reef sharks rest in turquoise crevices. A half-day journey featuring iconic Galapagos penguins, marine iguanas, and elite snorkeling.
The Experience
Located just a short boat ride from Puerto Villamil, Las Tintoreras is a rocky islet complex named after the whitetip reef sharks (known locally as “Tintoreras”) that frequent its shallow lava channels. This site is a miniature paradise of biodiversity: observe Galapagos penguins darting through the water, blue-footed boobies perched on the volcanic cliffs, and hundreds of marine iguanas nesting along the trails. The calm, crystal-clear cove provides one of the most accessible and rewarding snorkeling experiences in the islands.
